2021 Video Music Awards – Video Winners

The popularity of the Video Music Awards has been on the rise for the past few years. Past winners have included artists such as Lady GaGa, Elton John and LCD Soundsystem. In most years, the Video Music Awards is chosen by local music fans instead of international music media. For this year’s event however, there will be a lot more representation from both worldwide music insiders and local fans. The Video Music Awards will once again be hosted by iLove Everything and Xxyhem.

Prominent videos at previous festivals have included ones from Migos and Boy Meets World. On top of that, the Best Music category has also been toned down this year. Previous winners in the Best Music category have included Weezer, Skrillex, Kings of Leisure and Weezer again. This is quite a change for a category normally dominated by the Brits.

The fest will once again be promoting iLove Everything and their other video fest projects. iLove Everything is actually the brainchild of David Bowie. As of now, the group has only had the UK number one single « Bones » but they plan to get to the Top Ten this time around. The band will be representing New York and will play some venues in London as well. They play a couple of dates in Australia as well.

This isn’t the first time artists who have major label backing have chosen to perform at Video Music Awards. Back in 2021, Britney Spears performed with the Black Eyed Peas and LCD Soundsystem. She managed to hold her own against everyone though, as she conquered the awards that night.

It will be interesting to see how many artists to make a name for themselves at this year’s show. Miley Cyrus has already made a name for herself by winning Video Music Awards for « Hannah Montana: The Movie ». She followed that up with a tour and several singles including « Wrecking Ball ».

It will also be interesting to see what the new acts do. For instance, does Avril Lavigne manages to top the night’s biggest single « Holiday », which went to number one? Will Green Day has come out tops with their hit « Green Grass and High Tides »? Or will it be another artist who takes the Video Music Awards by storm? Just for a second, what is the deal with that « Video Music Awards »? Have people finally gotten tired of all the controversy?
